We tasted with our guest reviewers, the CakeBitch and El Capitan.

CakeBitch says: Bubbly on my tongue, lots of citrus, and very young.

El Capitan says: I can confirm it’s wine, possibly white. I prefer this one (ED: as opposed to the Pouilly-Fumé tasted with it). Can I drink it now?

He says: Textbook Sancerre, really no complaints at all, and I’m always pointing out flaws, like a mother-in-law out of control. My biggest reservation is the price: I’m pretty sure we can find something that’s a bit better value, perhaps from Chile or New Zealand… but only time will tell. P.S. As much as I love our local shop, the Wine Thief, the markup is true to their name.

She says: I love the more restrained nature of a Sancerre vs a new world Sauvignon Blanc.  I think it is official that the pungently herbaceous new world style is becoming a little ‘old’.  The more delicate fruit in this Sancerre along with its mineral and flinty undertones makes it positively alluring.  That said, to be seduced like this, it will cost you!

Tasting note

Looks like: Clear, pale lemon colour
Smells like: Youthful, med- intensity, mineral/stone, citrus, green apple (with a bit of tartness)
Tastes like: Dry, med+ acid, med body, med- alcohol, med+intensity, tart green apple and pear flavours, grassy, herbaceous with a touch of mineral, nicely balanced, simple on the palate, med+ length

Summary: Very good, Ready to drink/can keep
