We tasted with our guest reviewers, the CakeBitch and El Capitan.

CakeBitch says: Heavier, more full in your mouth; will save this for the chocolate cake

El Capitan says: It should be called ‘very berry’

He says: Not horrible, not great. Average structure, decent fruit, and a little bit of complexity. Some hints of terroir with earth & mushroom notes. The usage of a glass stopper as the enclosure is pretty nifty, and makes sense since I’d probably have to drink it over a week. I rarely am so underwhelmed.

She says: The better of the two Nero d’Avola’s we tried but that is not saying much.  More intensity, ripe blackberry & blueberries with a hint of chocolate.  Still, I am sure that Sicily can do better than this!  A challenge for another day.

Tasting note

Looks like: Clear, deep ruby
Smells like: Youthful, med- intensity, black fruits, earth, mushrooms
Tastes like: Dry, med acid, med body, med intensity, med tannin, med alcohol; plums, blackberry, sour cherry, a hint of earth & mushroom, decent concentration, tinge of chocolate/coffee, med finish

Summary: Good, At peak drink soon
