He says: This is a real mouthful: big body and lots of discernible tannin; contrasted with a very under ripe, tart, citrusy finish. Simple on the palate. Way too much money for an average wine that you could find a cheaper comparable for.

She says: This wine lived up to the ‘big’ rosé reputation of the Tavel appellation with tannins present on the palate.  This wine disappointed on the fruit front, which was mellow at best. Interestingly the winemaking notes referenced malolactic fermentation. Does this mean the savory notes and lack of freshness make sense?  Not for me.

Tasting note

Looks like: Clear, med salmon
Smells like: Clean, developing, odd vegetal/savory notes, strawberry, red fruit, med- intensity
Tastes like: Dry, med acid, med-tannin, med+ body, med- intensity, light red fruit, citrus, lemon, tart strawberry, simple on the palate, med- finish

Summary: Good, Drink Now

Oh!!! Didn’t realize you tried this. Some people at work went crazy over this (and it’s selling quickly) but I didn’t really understand the hype. I thought my bottle was bad, but now my sanity has been restored. (Tried the 2010 today – some similar notes)

That can be an issue with Rosés. Lots of vintage variation depending on the ripeness of the fruit and the vinification. It can be a crapshoot if you love the style one year, and then hope for the same the next year. So, buyer beware.
