He says: I was expecting a lot more for the price, but came away disappointed. Obviously, the higher price covers the oak barrel costs at this winery: oak dominates the nose and the palate, killing the fruit aromas and flavour. You do get richer, blacker fruit (perhaps from the Cab Sauv in the blend), as well as grippier tannins, but it could really do with more acidity and less fruit homicide. I’d hold off on this unless you are ordering the steak special at the Olive Garden.

She says: With its rich, ripe fruit and oak influence there was a hint of a newer world style in this wine with its 20% blend of Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot. For me it lacked the intensity of earth & sour cherry that is the hallmark of a typical Chianti. With royalty depicted on the label, I expected more tradition from this Chianti Classico!
