He says: I was not impressed at first with this wine, but gradually grew to like it as it developed in the glass over the hour. It’s got a simple bouquet, of black fruit and some secondary aromas. On the palate, it’s ripe black fruit, and a touch of oak, with an unassuming structure, and tannins that take a while to show. Nothing too outstanding, but at the same time, nothing too offensive. Definitely an easy-sipping red wine that will make a lot of easy drinkers happy, although that type of drinker will miss out if they don’t give it a proper decant. For me, this is 2.5 stars out of 5, had we reviewed it blind, and a solid buy at $20.

She says: I find it fascinating to drink a Merlot from the Old World and find it so completely different to most that are produced in the New World. It was rich in fruit but considerably lighter on the body. It had much grippier, riper tannins than most similar Merlots you would find from BC. And of course, much less oak. Overall, it was more interesting than a lot of lower-end Merlots that you find in the BC LDB. At $20, this is an any-night-of-the-week bottle.
